Getting Started in Debt Hunt
From the new lobby tutorial to your first Easy extract without feeding the wolf.
Your first hour in Debt Hunt should be boring on purpose. The fantasy is a wolf in a night forest. The actual fail state is a missed quota. This beginner guide assumes you just clicked Play on Roblox after Update 1 (new lobby + tutorial, 29 August 2026). Finish the onboarding, run Easy, and leave with a mental model of the clock. Then you can read how to play for the full ruleset.
1. Join the right experience
Open the official page for Debt Hunt by T0pH4t_Studios. The live title may show [UPDATE 1] Debt Hunt. If you land in a nearly empty copy with no tutorial prompt, leave and rejoin — stale servers skip the lobby rebuild. Favorite the game so later codes that require a like actually work.
Voice chat and camera permissions are not required. The in-game photography badge is a tool inside the contract, not Roblox’s avatar camera.
2. Treat the tutorial as a real run
Update 1 exists because players were dying in the first sunset without understanding DarkMarket or the debt. Click through every prompt. Note four things:
- Quota / debt: a Cash number you must pay the corporation.
- Days: you do not have infinite dawns.
- Sunset: the hunt starts; loud mining becomes a magnet.
- DarkMarket: optional shop. The Independent badge proves you can win without it.
If you skip this, controls will feel random and survive sunset will read like superstition.
3. Queue Easy, not Insane
Badges tell you the ladder: Easy Does It, Balanced (Medium), Tough (Hard), Insane. Easy is where you learn interactables: camera shots, mineral ores, wooden planks, treasures, supply boxes, and the Gem that triggers Gem Alarm. You also learn that HP is real — Absolute Being (no damage) and By a Thread (1 HP win) both exist.
Bring no ego into the first contract. The wolf still hunts on Easy. Your goal is a clean extract with time left on the day counter, not a speedrun.
4. First-day loop
Use this until it is muscle memory. A printable version lives on the run checklist:
- Spawn, mark a building or van-like safe pocket if the map gives you one.
- Sweep supply boxes and obvious junk piles — Provision Master is 150 boxes for a reason; they are common value.
- Take photos of anything the camera highlights. Master Photographer is 1000 shots; early photos are free Cash if the studio pays for evidence the way the official loop implies.
- Break planks only when they gate a room. Wrecking Crew is 100 breaks, not a suggestion to demolish the whole map on day one.
- Mine ores if you spawned a pick-equivalent or find a node next to your path. Do not tunnel away from the extract.
- Dig treasures that sit on the route. Archaeologist is 100 digs; ignore isolated shoveling if the sun is moving.
- Pocket a Gem if you see one, then leave. Gems are loud events (Gem Alarm badge exists).
- When the light turns, stop farming. Night is survive sunset, not “one more node.”
5. DarkMarket on run one
Buy only if the tool prevents a wipe or doubles a remaining-day plan. Flashlights, extra carry, or a cheaper extract item beat “cool gun.” Compare ideas on the loadout tier list and the loot tier list. If you can win without the shop, you are already practicing Independent.
6. People
You can play solo — see solo runs. Official art shows carrying a wounded teammate, so co-op is first-class. Max server size is 50; your contract squad will be smaller in practice. Agree who holds Gems and who watches sunset.
7. After the first extract
Pay the debt on the terminal the tutorial showed you. If you clutched on the last day, you already earned the Clutch pattern — do not make it a habit. Open pay off the debt and the debt tracker before Medium. Check Update 1 if a lobby button moved, and ignore scripts until you can clear Easy without them.
The wolf is the trailer star. The quota is the game. Once that sentence sticks, the rest of the guides hub will make sense.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Debt Hunt questions.
Should I start on Insane for more Cash?
No. Learn Easy first. Insane is a badge, not a tutorial. See how to play for difficulty intent.
Do I need codes to start?
No. There are no verified codes as of August 2026. Farm photos and boxes instead; list is on codes.
When does the monster appear?
The hunt begins at sunset. Full night posture is in survive sunset.
