How to Play Debt Hunt

The contract loop from dawn loot to corporation payout — without treating the wolf as the whole game.

How to Play

How to play Debt Hunt is a rules question, not a lore question. T0pH4t_Studios published a short pitch: procedural generation, earn money, pay the Debt Hunt corporation, survive a monster that hunts at sunset. Badges and Update 1 fill in the rest. This page is the ruleset you should know before you argue about loadouts. New accounts should still run Getting Started first.

Win condition

You win a contract by paying the quota within the allowed days and extracting. You can clutch on the last available day (Clutch badge). You can win as the last living contractor (Last Man Standing). You can win on 1 HP (By a Thread) or without taking damage (Absolute Being). You can win without DarkMarket (Independent) and without sprinting (Slow and Steady). Those badges are not jokes; they describe legal win paths.

You lose by missing the debt when days run out, or by wiping when nobody can be revived or carried. Killing the monster is not listed as a win condition in the official description. Play like the corporation cares about Cash, not pelts.

The day clock

Each contract is a sequence of days. Daytime is for volume: photos, ores, planks, treasures, supply boxes, Gems. Sunset starts the hunt. Night is for repositioning, defending a pocket, and not advertising your location with mining. At dawn, loot value and shop deliveries (if DarkMarket works on a delay) come back online. If you are still chasing a node when the sky goes red, you are playing the trailer, not the rules. Park the night plan on survive sunset.

Difficulties

Badge nameMeaning
Easy Does ItBeat the game on Easy
BalancedMedium

InsaneInsane

Raise difficulty only when Easy extracts are clean. Higher tiers squeeze days, monster pressure, or both. Use the debt tracker so you know how much Cash per day you must average. Warlord (250 wins) is a long-term counter, not a first-week goal. Legendary Hunter is level 100, which means a persistent profile XP track exists on top of per-run Cash.

DarkMarket

DarkMarket is the in-world shop. Independent exists specifically so you know the shop is optional. Spend there when a tool changes the remaining-day math: light for night, a break tool for plank gates, medical value if HP chips, extra bag space. Do not spend there because a cage fight screenshot looked cool. Pay off the debt and the loot tier list rank income; loadouts rank buys.

Tools the badges prove exist

  • Camera — 1000 photos for Master Photographer. Shoot what the prompt highlights; do not treat it as a toy.
  • Mining — 500 mineral ores for Master Miner.
  • Planks — 100 breaks for Wrecking Crew. Gates, not vandalism.
  • Treasures — 100 digs for Archaeologist.
  • Supply boxes — 150 opens for Provision Master. High priority on day one.
  • Gems — picking one up is its own badge. Expect noise or a scripted beat.
  • Cash — Millionaire is 1,000,000 saved, so banking across runs is possible.
  • Weapons — official stills show first-person firearms and a caged target. Combat exists; it is not the quota.

Co-op rules of thumb

Online co-op is supported. Carry the wounded; the overview art is a gameplay beat, not a poster. Split roles: one photographer, one miner, one box runner, one looking at the sky. Full habits sit in co-op. Solo is viable on Easy/Medium; see solo runs.

Controls and UI

Movement, sprint, interact, and carry need a pass on controls before you call the game unfair. The Update 1 lobby is also where codes will be redeemed when they exist.

What not to mix up

Debt Hunt is not the Minecraft map of the same name, and it is not Blood Debt. If a video shows blocky deer, a laptop in a van, or 1990s pistol murder-mystery, you are watching the wrong game. Stay on this wiki’s guides hub and the links hub for the Roblox contract.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Debt Hunt questions.

Do I have to kill the monster to win?

Official text is about paying debt. Treat a kill as optional. Survival posture is in survive sunset.

Is DarkMarket required?

No. The Independent badge is a win without it. Shop advice is in pay off the debt.

What difficulty should groups use?

Easy until the squad extracts clean, then Medium. Role calls live in co-op.

Does progress save between runs?
