Beginner Guide

Debt Hunt is a survival extraction game on Roblox. You spawn in a procedurally generated forest, owe a large debt to a corporation, and must earn enough Cash to pay it off before time runs out. After sunset, a monster begins hunting. That is the entire loop in two sentences. This guide is what those sentences mean in practice.

The contract

You owe the Debt Hunt corporation money. The exact amount changes with difficulty. Your goal is to earn that much Cash and extract before the contract expires or before the monster ends your run.

The debt is not optional. It is not flavor text. If the timer runs out or you die with insufficient Cash, the run fails. If you extract with enough Cash, you win.

The time pressure

Each run has a limited number of days. Each day ends at sunset. After sunset the monster hunts. The number of days varies by difficulty — Easy gives more time, Insane gives less.

Daytime is for looting. Nighttime is for survival. Players who treat night as extra mining time still wipe on Easy. The sun going down is not a suggestion to go faster — it is a phase change.

The monster

After sunset the monster becomes active. It patrols, it pursues, and it deals damage on contact. A single hit removes one of two health points. The creature gets stronger as nights pass.

Killing the monster does not win the game. The debt must still be paid. The run continues after every monster encounter until extraction or failure.

The first run

Do not rush. The most common beginner mistake is sprinting into the forest, filling inventory with low-value items, and running out of time or health before understanding the map.

Instead:

  1. Learn the trailer. Generator, laptop, sales box, medical kit, camera, ammunition box, fuel. These are your base systems.
  2. Walk the immediate area. Find nearby structures without going deep.
  3. Open supply boxes on your path. They are the most reliable income.
  4. Use the camera on anything the UI highlights.
  5. Return before the sky changes.

A successful first run is one where you extract with Cash and learn something about the map. It is not about maximizing every possible dollar.

Route habits

Because maps are procedural, each run starts fresh. You cannot memorize a path. Instead, build habits:

  • Start near the trailer.
  • Work outward in one direction.
  • Identify return landmarks.
  • Turn back before sunset, not at sunset.
  • Sell before looting more.

These habits work on every map because they do not depend on specific locations.

Equipment priorities

Early Cash should go toward fuel if the trailer is low, then toward tools that open new areas (crowbar for boarded buildings, pickaxe for mineral nodes). Do not buy weapons early — they do not increase scavenging income.

Medical kits are worth carrying. A kit can restore one health point and prevent a wipe.

What to ignore early

  • Gem alarms across the map. Pick them up if close, not if across the forest.
  • Deep caves. They contain valuables but also contain sunset risk.
  • Combat. The wolf is not worth fighting for loot.
  • DarkMarket on the first run. Learn the base economy first.

After the first run

Review what happened. Did you run out of time? Did you fill inventory with junk? Did you get caught at sunset? Pick one thing to improve.

Then queue again. Debt Hunt is a repetition game. Each run builds map sense, economy intuition, and survival instincts. The players who extract consistently are not天赋 — they are repeat.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Filling inventory with low-value items before high-value ones.
  • Going deep into the forest without a return plan.
  • Treating night as extra mining time.
  • Shopping DarkMarket before learning the base loop.
  • Fighting the wolf instead of avoiding it.
  • Never selling before extracting.

What comes next

After running Easy twice with consistent extractions, read how to play for the full contract rules. Then controls to set up your input. Then pay off the debt for the economy. Then survive sunset for the night.

The wiki is here so you do not have to learn everything by dying.

Beginner FAQ

How do I win in Debt Hunt? Extract with enough Cash to pay the debt. That is the only win condition.

What should I do on my first run? Learn the trailer, open nearby supply boxes, use the camera, and return before sunset. Do not maximize — learn.

Should I fight the monster? No. Avoid it. Fighting burns resources and delays extraction. The monster is a threat to avoid, not a target to hunt.

How many days do I have? It varies by difficulty. Easy has more days. Insane has fewer. Check the contract screen before queuing.

What is the fastest way to earn Cash? Supply boxes and photography on a short, repeatable route. Details are on the money guide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Debt Hunt questions.

Is Debt Hunt multiplayer?

Yes. Online co-op up to 100 players per server. You can play solo but squads make extraction easier.

Can I win without DarkMarket?

Yes. The Independent badge rewards winning without the shop. It is designed to prove the shop is optional.

What happens if I die?

The run ends. You lose all carried items and must restart. Extract with Cash, not with a full inventory of loot.

Does the monster always spawn?

Yes. The monster activates after sunset on every difficulty. It becomes more aggressive on higher difficulties.
